A policeman is seriously injured in a car accident while racing to a fire. Everyone's attention is focused on the injured man as firemen and ambulance attendants try to free him from his mangled police car. Later I learn that during all of the chaos some people from the crowd have stolen belongings of the victims from their wrecked autos.
