1977 Ford Thunderbird
|
We also own a 1977 Ford Thunderbird which we purchased new in 1977 from Elgin Ford in Toronto. It wasn't actually the car I wanted to buy but someone else beat me to a silver 1977 with cloth interior and power seats. I would have preferred cloth seats but incredibly this car's interior has stayed in pretty good shape. This car has never been winter driven like my 1986 Turbo but a couple of incidents in it's past forced it to have it's hood repainted. The house next door was set on fire and the car was damaged when the fire department tossed desbris onto the parked car. Currently the car is not running as I believe it requires a new fuel pump. For that matter the gas tank needs to be drained as it's half full of vintage 1980's gasoline! The car will turn over and run when primed with gasoline but will not continue to run. It's a shame as it still has it's original paint and needs very few repairs to get it back on the road.
Unfortunately we don't have a garage and this meant that the car was stored outdoors all this time. Car covers work well but there will still be spots where rust will occur such as the chrome bumpers.
